The town of Marineland is celebrating its 75th anniversary with a free three-day event today, Saturday and Sunday at 9507 N. Oceanshore Blvd.
The celebration will highlight the past, present and future of the town. An outdoor screening of two films shot in Marineland will kick off the celebration on Friday. The screening of “Tarzan” (1938) at 6 p.m. and “Revenge of the Creature from the Black Lagoon” (1955) at 8 p.m. will be followed by a bonfire and late-night live music. Blankets, coolers and lawn chairs are encouraged.
On Saturday, the Town of Marineland will host a seafood and music festival and will finish the night off with a fireworks display. Bands set to perform starting at noon are Johnny Matanzas and the Hombres, The Wild Shiners and Halo Violation.
On Sunday, Marineland will showcase its weekly Salt Air Farmers Market and surf exhibition at 10 a.m., Squawk the Parrot show at 11 a.m., bands starting at noon as well as a native plant sale and renewable energy show. The celebration will close with a time capsule ceremony.
