San Sebastian Winery, 157 King St.

Vinters White wine
A bottle of Vinters White wine, San Sebastian Winery’s second most popular bottle is for sale in the gift shop.
San Sebastian Winery opened in 1996 in Henry Flagler’s East Coast Railway Building, just a few blocks from downtown St. Augustine. Although the grapes are mostly grown at an 80-vineyard in Clermont, all the wines are made on site in the Ancient City.

The winery staff creates table, sparkling and dessert wines from hybrid and muscadine grapes.

Wines include Blanc De Fleur (sweet, sparkling); Blanc Du Bois, Castillo Red, Cream Sherry, Port, Reserva, Rosa, Vintners White and Vintners Red.

Complimentary tours and tastings are offered daily about every 25 minutes during regular hours. Tours last about 45 minutes. Reservations are not required, with the exception of groups of 25 or larger. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The last tour is offered at about 5 p.m. daily. After a short audio-visual presentation, guests can take a guided walking tour of the 18,000-square-foot wine production facility. Participants will learn details about the 5,000-gallon stainless steel tanks where the wine is fermented and stored prior to bottling. After visiting the Barrel Room where the Port is stored, guests are treated to a wine tasting experience.

Participants will learn about the five “S’s” of wine tasting — see, smell, swirl, sip and savor.

A wine shop features San Sebastian wines, wine accessories and gift items such as linens, glassware, cooking items and gourmet foods. Private labels and gift baskets also are available.

Open Friday through Sunday, The Cellar Upstairs, located on the rooftop of the winery building, offers live music by local bands and musicians, along with wine, beer and appetizers.
