Cracking the to-do list in St. Augustine can be a challenge.

The city features majestic beaches, tasty cuisine and a vibrant historic culture. Yet, that hasn’t stopped recreation — namely golf and tennis, among many other outdoor activities — from developing into some of the city’s busiest enterprises for those living here or just visiting.

TPC Sawgrass, known for its exquisite layout and one-of-a-kind “Island Green” on the 17th hole, is St. Augustine’s premier recreational landmark and has developed into one of the PGA’s marquee weekends since it moved to the Stadium Course in 1982. Through the years, elite golfers such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Greg Norman have showcased their heroics in front of thousands of captivated spectators.

While The Players Championship is the most recognizable sporting event in St. Augustine, the city also offers many other high-quality facilities to cater to both tourists and residents of any age while benefitting from the state’s advantageous year-round climate.

Away from land, boating and fishing are two of the most popular recreational activities. St. Augustine’s location makes it an ideal spot for both inshore and offshore fishing, allowing anglers to reel in a variety of catches. The temperate waters and favorable climate allow boaters — as well as those enjoying time on a kayak, canoe, parasail, paddle board or while scuba diving — to witness an array of wildlife ranging from dolphins and manatees to crabs, stingrays and alligators.

Other popular water sports include surfing, water skiing and taking trips on pontoon boats to enjoy the vast richness of the area’s beaches and lakes. Back on dry land, St. Augustine offers no shortage of trails to explore and parks to visit with the entire family.

So, whether you have a group of five or just looking for a new individual hobby, St. Augustine has an adventure for everyone. Below is a list of recreational activities and more information about each:
