Vilano Beach Main Street Inc. will host the first Dish N Fish culinary event from 2 to 8 p.m. April 16 in the Vilano Beach Town Center.
Dish N Fish is a new culinary tourism event, a collaborative fundraising partnership with the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA) and Vilano Beach Main Street to raise awareness of the coastal community and area dining benefits for visitors and residents.
From 3 to 5 p.m., a chef competition among high school culinary students (ProStart Program) will be featured.
Five teams from around the area will compete under the tutelage of master chefs preparing ceviche recipes. Winning teams will receive school grants and culinary prizes.
The Dishes of the Day will feature fish and seafood classics common to Northeast Florida (shrimp, fish and more). Fifteen food stations will be available for tantalizing taste sensations.
Samples will be offered by 10 well-known restaurants in the region. A wide variety of beverages will be available from area wine distributors, craft beer makers and the St. Augustine Distillery. Meals from chef stations will be available for $15, and culinary demonstrators will offer samples.
