You may not think of St. Augustine as a destination for kilt-wearing athletes and fans of Celtic bands like Seven Nations, Albannach and the Dublin City Ramblers. But for three days in March, Francis Field hosts one of the largest Celtic festivals in North Florida.
The 2016 Celtic Music and Heritage Festival is Friday through Sunday, with many of the events taking place on Francis Field in dowtown St. Augustine. The event features heavyweight Celtic bands, highland games and plenty of food and beverages.
The festivities kick off Friday with a whiskey tasting — sponsored by Jameson — followed by a concert featuring Dublin’s Irish Tenors and the Celtic Ladies at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday morning starts with a St. Patrick’s Day Parade at 10 a.m.
Saturday and Sunday feature a lineup of 13 bands playing on two separate stages, and highland games that start at 10 a.m.
In addition to the entertainment, there will be vendors selling Celtic-themed gifts and food throughout the day.
If you’re looking for a break from the norm and want to show your Celtic pride (whether you’re Celtic or not), then consider heading out to this 3-day event.
